JCI Liverpool (Junior Chamber International) met for their first management team meeting recently at Hill Dickinson's head office to discuss their plans for 2012.

JCI is a global network of young professionals that offers its members opportunities in (local, national and international) networking, training and volunteer work. Notable members, past and present, include Al Gore, Bill Clinton, John F Kennedy, Kofi Annan and many members of the Japanese parliament (http://www.jciuk.org.uk/).

The meeting, set up by Kai Graf Pahlen, solicitor at Hill Dickinson and head of JCI Liverpool, was used as a forum to discuss the Chamber's planned projects for the year and was attended by representatives from the region's professional and financial services sectors. A number of JCI Senators also took part. 

Kai says of the meeting; "JCI Liverpool is really gaining momentum now and we have many exciting events and projects in the pipeline. We are attracting great support from Liverpool's professional and commercial sectors and I would like to thank all those involved for making Liverpool JCI come together." 

Their main initiative, the "Let's Do It! World" CSR global project, takes place on 13th May 2012. It involves a group of volunteers coming together to clean up illegal garbage in local areas for the benefit of the community. The project has been organised in many countries, particularly in Estonia, where it started in 2008. JCI Liverpool is working with the Commercial District BID, the body responsible for delivering the development and improvements in the commercial district of Liverpool and many local businesses are keen to support the project. 

Chantal Minnery, Planning and Performance Principal Analyst at Marks and Spencer who attended the meeting says; "I''m really excited about being part of JCI Liverpool and am looking forward to our team''s first project, ''Let''s do it! World.' This will afford us the opportunity to work alongside members of the Merseyside community and hopefully make a real difference to their area. The opportunities and challenges presented to us are going to be fantastic."

About JCI Liverpool
JCI Liverpool is part of Junior Chamber International, a global network of young professionals, present in more than 100 countries with almost 200,000 members across the world, offering its members opportunities in networking, training and volunteer work.

JCI Liverpool (then known as Liverpool Junior of Commerce) was active in Liverpool in the 1970s. One of the Chamber's most important projects was the first Liverpool Lord Mayor's Parade in 1972, which became an important annual event, and ran for almost 40 years.

Unfortunately, JCI Liverpool was disbanded in 1979, more than 30 years ago. However, the time is right for JCI Liverpool to make a comeback. The city of Liverpool seems more vibrant than ever and presents a perfect environment for a Junior Chamber and for young professionals eager to make a difference.
