Meet the Member - Rachel Bell (JCI Manchester)

Today we are lucky enough to meet a young, enthusiastic member from JCI Manchester - Rachel Bell!
Which chamber are you a member of?
Manchester
How long have you been a JCI member?
2 years
What made you join?
When I first started attending JCI events I knew that the people who were involved were passionate about what they did and that makes a real difference, you can't fake being bothered about something.
What is the most interesting JCI event you've been to and why?
The Manchester Young Talent Awards, It's such a great night celebrating all things Manchester.
Had JCI presented any unusual/interesting opportunities?
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity of joining the JCI Manchester board as social director; it seemed pretty interesting at the time. I have only been doing the role for 6 months but I love it, it's so rewarding being able to give back to other people in Manchester what JCI initially gave to me.
What is your job/career/profession/business?
I work at a Digital Marketing agency in Manchester, theEword.
Has JCI had any impact on your job/career/profession/business?
Since being a part of JCI I have grown as an individual, it has given me a lot of confidence in what I do and I have made a lot of friends along the way. All the board members at JCI Manchester are from different backgrounds and have completely different jobs at different levels; it's great because you can learn so much from each other!
Who is a leader you admire?
I can't thank my MD, Daniel Nolan, enough for the opportunities he's given me since I started at theEword. Working alongside Dan I see how hard day to day work as a managing director can be but he's never too busy to help people out and I admire his dedication to theEword members of staff and the digital sector as a whole.
What's your proudest achievement?
I moved to Manchester solo when I was 18 in hope to find a job in the digital sector. So far I don't think I am doing too bad!
If we gave you an elephant, where would you hide it?
I most definitely wouldn't hide it, I would take it everywhere* with me, I love elephants!
*almost everywhere, I don't think it would fit in most normal doorways.
What's a great weekend to you?
There's nothing better than a chilled weekend with family or friends, in the sun with the BBQ on. Either that or a night in front of a fire watching films drinking hot chocolate.
Tell us something crazy/dangerous/inspiring/unusual you have done
I run a month long event in October called Caketober where I get Manchester businesses/ groups of friends to get a team together to bake cakes, dress up and raise money for an awesome Manchester based charity, Forever Manchester. Over the past two years Caketober has raised more than £10,000 for the charity and this year alone we aim to double that.
Thanks Rachel!
