Mental Health Awareness: Local Chambers' Projects
Mental Health Awareness: Local Chambers' Projects
A not-for-profit network for young professionals, JCI’s mission is to provide development opportunities to create positive change – that’s why JCI UK is prioritising mental wellbeing in 2019.
Earlier this year, our Step Up January campaign highlighted the importance of physical health on mental wellbeing. In March, the Mindful Matters conference featured expert speakers who discussed important topics such as body image, workplace stress and practising mindfulness.
Though Mental Health Awareness Week is drawing to a close, many chambers are still running fantastic projects focused on mental wellbeing - we’ve featured a few examples below.
JCI Nottingham's Daily Meditation
As the campaign name suggests, JCI Nottingham is encouraging their members to take time out of their busy schedules and spend at least 5 minutes a day meditating - whether this is at work, at home or with friends.
According to the NHS, learning how to relax takes practice, but over time it can help release tension in your body, clear your thoughts and improve your mental wellbeing.
Search for #5minsmeditate on social media for meditation tips and inspiration. JCI Nottingham is also raising funds for the mental health charity Mind - you can view the donation page here.
JCI Manchester Supporting Anxiety UK
Throughout 2019, JCI Manchester is raising funds and awareness for Anxiety UK. The charity works with those living with anxiety and anxiety-based depression by providing information, support and understanding via a range of services.
As well as supporting Anxiety UK in the Great Manchester Run (visit the donation page here), JCI Manchester has a fantastic programme of events aimed at improving mental wellbeing – including a Yoga Series and upcoming compassion-based therapy sessions.
Their members have also shared some great advice for giving your mind and body a time out.
JCI Belfast's Glimpse Into the Subconscious
On the 30th May, JCI Belfast will bring together Mindset Coach Phil Hunter and Clinical Hypnotist Warren York to speak about the power of the subconscious mind.
Warren will discuss clinical hypnotherapy and how effective it can be in changing negative habits. Meanwhile Phil will demonstrate how you can use your mind for success and achieving your goals.
