Noor Uddin is a young man with a dream to turn run-down areas of Bradford into beautiful community gardens. His Community Garden Project has just received a grant from UnLtd's Building Futures Award programme to help him turn his dream into a reality.

Noor from Manningham, is a Huddersfield University student and a member of the local personal development organisation, JCI Bradford.

Noor said "I've had this idea for some time now and last year I contacted Philip Cavalier-Lumley from Bradford District Community Fund and we discussed how to get it off the ground. I also joined JCI Bradford to meet new people around Bradford and share my ideas in the hope I may get some feedback and help.

"A fellow JCI member, Lucy Parr who works for Incommunities put me in touch with Open Field who assisted me, including giving guidance to apply for funding. The rest as they say is history because my application was successful and I'm now on the lookout for areas around the city and district that I can focus on reinvigorating and make into community spaces for everyone to enjoy. I would like to thank Incommunities and UnLtd for their invaluable expert help.

Incommunities is a partner in UnLtd's Building Futures Award programme to help young entrepreneurs who have the energy, passion and potential to start up social ventures in their community.

Phil Cockayne, Deputy President of JCI Bradford said "Noor joined JCI Bradford last year and he has made such a great contribution to the team. His personal goal to regenerate parts of Bradford is a wonderful ambition. JCI Bradford members are providing Noor with additional support in terms of guidance so that he can make this first project a massive success.
